NOTICES THIS WEEK:

 

1. THE NEXT PCC MEETING takes place after the Parish Mass on Sunday 29th January.

2. VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY TO COOK BREAKFAST FOR THE CAMDEN COLD WEATHER NIGHT SHELTER. A list is at the back of church for you to sign if you could volunteer to join a small Holy Cross Church group cooking breakfast at St George’s Church Bloomsbury on the following dates in the New Year: Sundays January 29th, February 12th and 26th and March 12th and 26th. We leave Holy Cross Church at 6 30 am and should return by 9 am. Please sign up for one or more duties if you are able. Thank you!

3. THE BISHOP OF LONDON’S FAREWELL MASS AT ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL takes place on Thursday 2nd February for a Mass at 6 pm. You are asked to be in place by 5 15 pm at the latest and a group from Holy Cross will be leaving church at 4 30 pm on the day.

3. HOLY CROSS THEOLOGY GROUP is aimed at the many people coming to Holy Cross for the first time and interested in developing their understanding of the Christian Faith, and finding out a bit more about our church context here at Holy Cross. The group is now taking a break and will resume its meetings from Wednesday 18th January at 7 pm. We will be then be outlining what is meant by Christian Doctrine and reading Christian Theology: An Introduction, by Alistair McGrath. Coffee and chocolate brownies will be served and the church heating will be ON! 

4. P A C T S  LEAFLETS FOR INDIVIDUAL GUIDED PRAYER AND PARISH MONTHLY INTERCESSIONS BOOKLETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF CHURCH. You can also find these aids to prayer on the Parish website.

5. SERMONS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF CHURCH. Please take ONE copy from the plastic folders. Each pack contains several!  A backlist of sermons can be found on the parish website.

6. ALL CRYPT AND CHURCH BOOKINGS can be made by contacting the parish priest, Fr Christopher Cawrse on 020 7278 6263.

7. A WARM WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS. Tea/Freshly brewed coffee and cake is available at the back of church after this service with homemade cake. Do come and join us!

 

 

Keri Thomas, a former worshipper at Holy Cross, has been awarded an OBE in

The New Year’s Honours list.   Keri wrote a book 'Caring for the Dying at Home'

and then developed the national Gold Standards Framework for end of life

care. Her late husband, Andrew was a former churchwarden at Holy Cross.

Let’s remember her in thanksgiving in our prayers this morning.

1. NEW YEAR PARISH LUNCH CLUB takes place this Saturday 7th January 2017 at 1 pm and we will be serving a full festive two-course menu of roast turkey and all the trimmings and Christmas Pudding. Cost £2 each. All welcome.

2. VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY TO COOK BREAKFAST FOR THE CAMDEN COLD WEATHER NIGHT SHELTER. 1.  MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO MADE OUR FIRST CAROL SERVICE WITH GOODNEOUGH COLLEGE LAST THURSDAY EVEINING SUCH A HUGE SUCCESS. THIS WILL NOW BECOME AN ANNUAL HOLY CROSS TRADITION, AS WE FORGE A NEW AND CREATIVE RELATIONSHIP  WITH THE COLLEGE.

3.     OUR TRADITIONAL CAROL SERVICE FOR LOCAL ELDERLY RESIDENTS takes place tomorrow morning  Monday 12th December at 11 am in church, with representation from King’s Cross Brunswick Neighbourhood Centre and Greatcroft Resource Centre for the Elderly in Cromer Street. We will be joined by the children’s choir of Argyle Primary School and Mr Wilfred Adderley, Solo.

4.     AN ADVENT LEAFLET is available at the back of church and details messages, suggestions and events for your Advent observance. Please take it home with you with this newsletter. It contains full information of Advent opportunities for prayer, study and with a volunteering opportunity in the coming year.
