NOTICES THIS WEEK:

 

1. VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY TO COOK BREAKFAST FOR THE CAMDEN COLD WEATHER NIGHT SHELTER. A list is at the back of church for you to sign if you could volunteer to join a small Holy Cross Church group cooking breakfast at St George’s Church Bloomsbury on the following dates: Sundays February 12th and 26th and March 12th and 26th. We leave Holy Cross Church at 6 30 am and should return by 9 am. Please sign up for one or more duties if you are able. Thank you!

2. HOLY CROSS THEOLOGY GROUP is aimed at the many people coming to Holy Cross for the first time and interested in developing their understanding of the Christian Faith, and finding out a bit more about our church context here at Holy Cross. This week’s meeting takes place on Wednesday 8th February at 7 pm in church. This week we will be learning about the English Reformation from the perspective of the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII and the political/religious  settlement under Elizabeth I. We will reference Chapter 4 of Owen Chadwick’s ‘The Reformation’ and fact sheets looking at the Elizabethan Settlement are available at the back of church.

3. P A C T S  LEAFLETS FOR INDIVIDUAL GUIDED PRAYER AND PARISH MONTHLY INTERCESSIONS BOOKLETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF CHURCH. You can also find these aids to prayer on the Parish website.

4. SERMONS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF CHURCH. Please take ONE copy from the plastic folders. Each pack contains several!  A backlist of sermons can be found on the parish website.

5. ALL CRYPT AND CHURCH BOOKINGS can be made by contacting the Parish Priest, Fr Christopher Cawrse on

3. THE BISHOP OF LONDON’S FAREWELL MASS AT ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL takes place on Thursday 2nd February for a Mass at 6 pm. You are asked to be in place by 5 15 pm at the latest and a group from Holy Cross will be leaving church at 4 30 pm. There will be no 6 pm Mass on this day.

4. HOLY CROSS THEOLOGY GROUP is aimed at the many people coming to Holy Cross for the first time and interested in developing their understanding of the Christian Faith, and finding out a bit more about our church context here at Holy Cross. This week’s meeting takes place on Wednesday 1st February at 7 pm at Joyce Florrell’s followed by supper. We will meet outside church at 6 50 pm. This week we will be learning about Christian saints using as our guide  Esther de Waal’s ‘Seeking God’ and Sam Wells’ ‘Saint Augustine’.

5. THIS SATURDAY 4th FEBRUARY OUR PARISH LUNCH CLUB meets downstairs in the crypt for a delicious, home cooked, two course meal. The meal is served at 1 pm and the cost is £2.50.

Coffee and chocolate brownies will be served and the church heating will be ON!

Keri Thomas, a former worshipper at Holy Cross, has been awarded an OBE in

The New Year’s Honours list.   Keri wrote a book 'Caring for the Dying at Home'

and then developed the national Gold Standards Framework for end of life

care. Her late husband, Andrew was a former churchwarden at Holy Cross.

Let’s remember her in thanksgiving in our prayers this morning.
