THE NEXT PCC MEETING TAKES PLACE ON SUNDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER AFTER THE PARISH MASS

 

 

1. HOLY CROSS CHURCH NEW COURSE IN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH RESUMES THIS MORNING (AFTER LAST WEEK’S BREAK) AT 12 30 PM PROMPT. The Course is designed to meet the needs of those preparing for Confirmation on September 16th, but also serves as a refresher course in the Christian Faith and involves us in group discussion and contemplation. The theme for this morning will be “Prayer”. A light lunch will be shared. All are welcome to attend.

2. A SERIES OF AUTUMN LECTURES AT THE CHURCH OF ST MARTINS IN THE FIELDS is entitled ‘Encounter’ and begins on Monday 17th September from 7 to 8 30 pm with Archbishop Rowan Williams on ‘Encountering the Other’. See fliers on the table at the back of church.

3. ANNUAL PARISH ‘BEATING OF THE BOUNDS’ TAKES PLACE ON SATURDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER AFTER THE 10 30 AM MASS. Please sign at the back if you can come. Soup and sandwiches in church afterwards.

2. “MARY’S HAND” - AN OPERA ON THE LIFE OF QUEEN MARY I OF ENGLAND WHICH IS BEING STAGED HERE AT HOLY CROSS CHURCH THIS WEDNESDAY 1st AND THURSDAY 2nd AUGUST AT 8 30 PM. 3. A MASS OF REQUIEM TO COMMEMORATE THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF FATHER ROBERT NORWOOD, FORMER ASST. PRIEST OF THIS PARISH will take place in this church on Saturday 4th August at 12 noon, the Feast of the Curé D’Ars; patron saint of parish priests.  The Mass will be followed by lunch at ‘The Boot’ public house across the road. All are welcome and do contact Fr Norwood’s friends and invite them to the Mass.

1. HOLY CROSS CHURCH NEW COURSE IN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH TAKES PLACE AFTER THIS SERVICE AT 12 30 PM PROMPT AND LASTS JUST LESS THAN ONE HOUR. The Course is designed to meet the needs of those preparing for Confirmation in September, but also serves as a refresher course and will involve group discussion and focus on the great Christian themes. Our second meeting will be entitled “Jesus” : How does Jesus of Nazareth become Son of God? An informal bread and lunch will be made available each week. Come and join us! All are most welcome to attend.

2.THE SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF SOUTH SUDAN – A SERVICE OF HOPE AND JOY HERE AT HOLY CROSS CHURCH ON SATURDAY 7TH JULY BEGINNING AT 2 PM. The service will bring together the South Sudanese community in London. It will be followed by a grand reception downstairs in the crypt. All are most welcome to attend. Please see Rosa Ferdinando if you would like to contribute some food. Please pray this morning for South Sudan, a new country which is struggling to maintain peace with stability and also for our South Sudanese members, Rosa, Peter, Bendele and Ajok.

Our first meeting will be entitled “God” : Who is God and how do we experience God? An informal bread and soup and fruit lunch will be made available each week. Come and join us! 3. STUDENTS FROM BERKELEY UNIVERSITY, CALIFORNIA will once more be visiting us at Holy Cross this Friday, 22nd June from 10 am. All are most welcome to come and greet the students. There will be about 60 of them! We will be joined by our old friend (and their course leader) Prof. Dominic Janes and also Rev. Jennie Hogan from Goodenough College. The morning will take the form of two addresses, one by Fr Christopher and the other by Rev. Jennie Hogan, with a break at 11 am for coffee and cupcakes.

4. THE ARCHDEACON OF HAMPSTEAD’S TRIENNIAL VISITATION announced last week for 18th June, has now been postponed to early December of this year. The Churchwardens feel that this will give us more time to set out our new mission priorities as we seek a new tenant for the crypt premises.
