NEXT SUNDAY 1S THE SUNDAY NEXT BEFORE LENT AND A LEAFLET WILL BE PROVIDED GIVING YOU DETAILS OF OUR LENTEN OBSERVANCES. During Lent we will be following a Lenten bible study course after the Sunday Mass with a simple lunch and hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us. We will also be observing the Stations of the Cross each Friday of Lent at 6 pm.

 

The Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book 2019 :  ‘Reconciliation’ by Mutharaj Swamy.

 

NOTICES THIS WEEK :              

 

1. A PCC MEETING takes place after the Parish Mass (beginning a 12 30 pm.

2. REVISION OF THE PARISH’S ELECTORAL ROLL.  Many of you will be aware that your name is placed on the parish’s electoral roll, which gives you the right to nominate church members to the PCC (parochial Church Council) and also to vote at the annual general meeting. A copy for last year is on the notice board and do check your name. This year we are ordered to completely revise our existing electoral roll list and you are kindly asked to fill in the electoral roll application form which you will find with your papers this morning.

3. HOLY CROSS PARISH LUNCH CLUB meets this Saturday 2nd March at 1 pm in the crypt for a delicious home cooked, two course meal. £4. Come along and join us for good food, company and conversation.

3. CAMDEN COLDWEATHER NIGHT SHELTER (C4WS) 2019 – This charity offers shelter and bed and breakfast in seven of our local churches to homeless persons during the cold Winter months. There is a sheet at the back of church for you to sign (in groups of no more than three persons per Sunday) on the following Sundays in the New Year – Sundays 3rd, 17th and 24th March.

4. LENTEN QUIET DAY AT EDGWARE ABBEY “WELCOME, DEAR FEAST OF LENT” takes place on Saturday 9th March from 10 am until 3 30 pm. We leave Holy Cross Church at 9 am. Cost £7 each and please bring a packed lunch. There is a list at the back of church for you to sign if you would like to come. The quiet day will be led by Fr Terrance Bell and makes a sure foundational period of prayer and gentle instruction as the Season of Lent gets fully under way. Not to be missed…

5. P A C T S  LEAFLETS FOR INDIVIDUAL GUIDED PRAYER AND PARISH MONTHLY INTERCESSIONS BOOKLETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF CHURCH. Both are available on the parish website (see above).

6. COPIES OF SERMONS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF CHURCH. Please take ONE copy from the plastic folders. Each pack contains several!  A backlist of sermons can be found on the parish website.

1. CAMDEN COLDWEATHER NIGHT SHELTER (C4WS) 2019 – This charity offers shelter and bed and breakfast in seven of our local churches to homeless persons during the cold Winter months. Our own volunteers from Holy Cross will operate from St George’s Church, Bloomsbury. There is a sheet at the back of church for you to sign (in groups of no more than three persons per Sunday) on the following Sundays in the New Year – Sunday 17th of February and then Sundays 3rd, 17th and 24th March. Come and help prepare and serve breakfast! We leave Holy Cross Church for St George’s on each Sunday at 6 30 am.

3. IN RESPONSE TO OUR RECENT DISCUSSION REGARDING KING’S CROSS CHURCH (KXC) we are planning to attend their evening act of worship with KXC this evening, Sunday 27th January. We will leave Holy Cross Church at 6 pm for 6 30 pm worship at the Ethiopian Church, Pentonville Road N1 9NJ. Please sign the list at the back of church if you are able to come.

4. THE BISHOP OF LONDON, THE RT.REV’D.DAME SARAH MULLALLY will be visiting Holy Cross Church as part of her visitation of King’s Cross parishes this Tuesday 29th January. She will be making a progress and should be with us at around 12 noon.. A simple lunch will be served for local clergy and community leaders here in church at around 1 15 pm. Churchwardens and PCC members will attend and it would be good to have as many members of the congregation to meet Bishop Sarah as possible.

THE ARCHDEACON OF HAMPSTEAD’S VISITATION TO THE PARISH takes place on Wednesday 16th January and a full programme will be sent to Churchwardens and PCC members ahead of this important meeting, in which the Archdeacon will explore with us our plans for mission and other significant matters relating to our church’s governance.

3. AS PART OF OUR RECENT DISCUSSION REGARDING KING’S CROSS CHURCH we are planning to attend their evening act of worship with KXC on Sunday 27th January. We will leave Holy Cross Church at 6 pm for 6 30 pm worship. More details will be given next week, but it would be good for a small Holy Cross party to make this visit.
