FORWARD NOTICE OF NEXT PCC MEETING on Sunday 1st October after the Parish Mass.

 

 1.     HOLY CROSS CHURCH CONFIRMATION GROUP next meets at 7 pm in church this Thursday, 14th September. This will be our rehearsal for the Patronal Mass and Confirmation this coming Sunday.

2.     ANNUAL BEATING OF THE BOUNDS OF THE PARISH begins at 11 am (after the 10 30 am Mass) this Saturday 16th September, as we make our walk across the boundaries of the parish. The walk takes about an hour and we will stop off at significant places for histories and stories. This will be followed by a lunch of sausage and mash in the crypt. Please sign the sheet at the back of church if you would like to come.

3.     MASS WITH CONFIRMATION FOR THE FEAST OF THE EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS this coming Sunday, 17th September at 6 pm. At this Mass our four candidates, Richard, Tom, Jonathan and Carl will be Confirmed by The Bishop of Edmonton, The Rt Rev’d. Robert Wickham. Please pray for them. There will be a reception downstairs in the crypt following this service. Please do bring your friends and make this an occasion to remember. See sheet at the back with a list of food items. Please sign against those items you could bring.

4.     WESTMINSTER ABBEY – NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE TO THE SHRINE OF EDWARD THE CONFESSOR on Saturday 14th October – All day pilgrimage with visits to the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor. 11.30 am - Festival Eucharist . This Festival Eucharist celebrates St Edward's life and holiness on the day of the national pilgrimage to his shrine. Preacher: The Right Reverend Dr John Inge, Bishop of Worcester.

At 3.00 pm - First Evensong of the Dedication of Westminster Abbey. See leaflets at the back of church for more details.

FORWARD NOTICE OF NEXT PCC MEETING on Sunday 3rd September after the Parish Mass.

 

1.     THE FUNERAL MASS OF FATHER ROBERT NORWOOD takes place this Tuesday at 12 noon at Christchurch, Wanstead. Nearest tube is Wanstead. Please pray for his soul. Fr Norwood was a former curate of this parish with Fr Paul Lewis. He was a great friend to the congregation and the local people of this parish and said Mass here in church only four weeks ago. Please pray for his soul.

2.     HOLY CROSS CHURCH CONFIRMATION GROUP will meet this Thursday, 24th August at 7 pm in church. We will discuss Bishop Philip North’s Lecture on ‘The Church and the Poor’ as a way of exploring the place of the Church of England in contemporary society.

OUR PARISH LUNCH CLUB MEETS THIS SATURDAY 5th AUGUST IN THE CRYPT AT 1 PM FOR A DELICIOUS HOME COOKED TWO COURSE MEAL. £2.50 EACH.  ALL WELCOME.

 

Please note there will be no Mass this Saturday morning at 10 30 am as Fr Christopher will be away

in Salisbury with our confirmands.

 

1.     HOLY CROSS CHURCH PEACE GARDEN – BLITZ ON THURSDAY 3rd AUGUST a working Group from Camden Council is coming to the Peace Garden at the east end of our church to perform something of a blitz on the overgrown shrubs and trees. This is part of an extended project which may see a much large group of people from Holy Cross Centre Trust, Church and community taking future responsibility for the maintenance and use of the garden.

 2.     HOLY CROSS CHURCH CONFIRMATION GROUP will meet this coming Thursday, 4th July at 7 pm in church. This Week: St Benedict and his Rule. Our pilgrimage day in Salisbury takes place this Saturday 5th August and we leave church at 9 30 am prompt.

NOTICES THIS WEEK: THE CAMDEN MELA TAKES PLACE THIS AFTERNOON AT CORAM’S FIELDS. 

 

FORWARD NOTICE OF NEXT PCC MEETING on Sunday 30th July after the Parish Mass.

 

1.     HOLY CROSS CHURCH CONFIRMATION GROUP will meet this coming Thursday, 20th July at 7 pm in church. This Week : The Seven Sacraments. The session will be based on John Macquarrie’s book ‘A Guide to the Sacraments’.

2.     LONDON BIBLE WEEK takes place from this week, 17th to 22nd July and there are many opportunities to make a Bible Study with practised theologians. There are leaflets containing full details of the Bible studies at the back of church. They take place at The Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street, Westminster SW1P 3DW, You can go online and find out more and book on the website,  www.londonbibleweek.com  Fr Christopher recommends the session with Archbishop Rowan Williams on Tuesday 18th July at 7 pm. You can book online for your own tickets which cost £12 each, but there are discounts!

3.    PARISH SUMMER PICNIC AT REGENTS PARK AFTER THE SUNDAY MASS THIS COMING SUNDAY 23RD JULY. An opportunity for us all to go off to the park and relax for the afternoon. Please bring your own picnic, though there should be plenty of food to go around. You might also want to bring something to sit on. All welcome.
